You can do so much with just the basic materials!  There is no need to spend a ton of money,  especially for your "little artists", just starting out!  Your local Dollar Stores & Walmart are GREAT resources for awesome finds!  Michaels & Amazon are still my go to places for canvas.  With a coupon or on Prime Day, you can get some great deals!  It's all about the bargains!!

PAPER
  • Plain white printer paper 
  • Watercolor paper (9 x 12 90lb)
  • Mixed Media paper, can hold paint, pastes, sprays, etc.
  • Construction paper and a box to collect scraps (construction and neon)

PAINTS/BRUSHES
  • Tempera paint - Washable, non-toxic, great for "little artists" (red, blue, yellow, green, purple, and white)
  • Watercolor Paints
  • Liquid watercolors - If you mix them with a little water, they will go a long way!
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Paint brushes - Round (fat/skinny), Flat (fat/skinny), Fan Brush - There are SOO many different types of paint brushes for different mediums and they all accomplish different things. 

DRAWING
  • Graphite Pencils 
  • Markers 
    • Permanent Markers like - Sharpie and Micron Pens (can use these with watercolors)
    • Washable Markers for little artists
  • Colored Pencils - If you are blending with colored pencils, a blending pencil is a good tool to have!
  • Charcoal - Comes in sticks & pencils
  • Crayons 
  • Erasers - When you are using heavy graphite pencils, you need a good eraser.  
  • Tortillon Stump & Sharpener (blending stick)
